Tim Mcmonagle's, 'Above and Beyond' enters the Gippsland Art Gallery collection

Tim Mcmonagle's, Above and Beyond has been acquired by the Gippsland Art Gallery for its Permanent Collection.
Above and Beyond is a stellar example of Mcmonagle's interest in the formation of trees and their enduring muscular trunks. He says, "I keep coming back to trees. They have so much rhythm and animation with their grey falling limbs and shoots of greenery; they depict life and death all at once."
This recent acquisition adds to the extensive holdings of his work in significant state, public and corporate collections. His artworks are also held in the collections at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the National Gallery of Victoria, Ian Potter Museum of Art, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Geelong Art Gallery, Monash University, Newcastle Regional Gallery, Wollongong Regional Gallery, Edith Cowan University, University of Queensland Art Museum and Artbank, Joyce Nissan, UBS and the Macquarie Bank collections.
