4 July–1 August 2026
LON Gallery proudly presents Adam John Cullen's third solo exhibition with the gallery Studio from 4th July to 1st August, 2026.
Please join us for the opening celebration on Saturday 4th of July from 2-4pm.
Adam John Cullen’s exhibition, Studio serves as a site for the coalescence of his collected ideas and anthology of meticulously collected materials. In Studio, the disparate workings of the artist’s atelier, are finally settled into their completed form.
Based in Castlemaine in regional Victoria, Cullen’s studio is a place of collection; where his archive of ideas, objects and materials idly await articulation and transformation, with the ultimate metamorphosis often spanning years. The lure and selection of these ‘collections’ begins with the artist's nostalgia for Canberra’s outer suburbs in the 1990s - where the artist spent their formative years.
Materially, Cullen finds inspiration in packaging materials, plastic chocolate packets, fabric sourced in foreign flea markets, thrifted jewels, stones and metals, clothing, fabric and environmental refuse. For Studio, these materials ultimately construct an immersive installation of spatial, sculptural elements alongside a series of photographic works captured on salvaged, expired film.
