4 July–1 August 2026
LON Gallery proudly presents Adam John Cullen's third solo exhibition with the gallery, Studio.
Please join us for the opening celebration on Saturday 4th of July from 2-4pm.
The exhibition will serve as a site for the coalescence of Cullen’s meticulously collected materials and his archive of concepts, thoughts and understandings. In Studio, the disparate workings of the artist’s atelier are finally settled into their completed form.
Based in Castlemaine in regional Victoria, Cullen’s studio is a place of collection; where his archive of ideas, objects and materials idly await articulation and transformation; the ultimate metamorphosis often spans years.
Materially, Cullen finds inspiration in packaging materials, plastic chocolate packets, fabric sourced in foreign flea markets, thrifted jewels, reclaimed pewter, stones and environmental refuse. In Studio, these materials ultimately conclude in sculptural forms, photographic works captured on salvaged, expired film and a collection of responsive texts by Jesse Boylan, Allison Gibbs and Daisy.
Adam John Cullen has exhibited in major institutions across Australia and internationally, including Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney, Gertrude Contemporary Glasshouse, Shepparton Art Museum, Yellow Brick Studios in Athens, and the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan. His work is held in various public and private collections, including the Australian National University (ANU), Drill Hall Gallery Collection, Shepparton Art Museum Collection and Deakin University Art Collection.
